🎵 Battle Songs
Music That Carried Me While I Was Healing
There was a season when my body was weak, my energy was gone, and my prayers were quieter than usual. I didn’t always have the strength to fight, but I didn’t need to. The battle was never mine.
During that time, music became one of the ways I aligned my heart with truth when my circumstances felt heavy. Some days that meant resting quietly and letting the words wash over me. Other days, especially in the car on the way to work, I sang loudly.
Windows up.
Voice not polished.
Heart determined.
Those car rides became a way to prepare my mind and spirit before stepping into a full day with students—to remember who was really in control, and whose strength I was leaning on.
Whether quietly listening or singing at the top of my lungs, these songs kept pulling my focus back to what was true:
The battle belongs to the Lord.
I was held—secure—in the palm of His hand.
The enemy was not going to win.
Not over my body.
Not over my mind.
Not over my calling.
Below are the battle songs I returned to, again and again. I’m sharing the YouTube links in case you’re in a season where you need truth carried to you, one lyric at a time.
🎶 Songs I Leaned On
(You don’t need to listen all at once. One song can be enough for a day.)
A Gentle Clarification 📖
These songs never replaced Scripture. God’s Word is my foundation.
Music simply became one way to worship, pray, and commune with the Lord—especially on days when reading felt hard or strength felt limited.
Sometimes worship sounds like stillness. Sometimes, like singing through tears.
Sometimes it sounds like declaring truth out loud on the way to work.
All of it can be offered to Him.
Scripture I Held Onto🕊️
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14
Stillness didn’t mean passivity.
It meant trusting God to do what only He could do, and listening to His guidance.
An Invitation 🌿
If you’ve walked through a hard season—physically, emotionally, or spiritually—I’d love to know:
What are the songs that helped you stand when you felt weak?
Feel free to share your battle songs in the comments.
Someone else may need the exact words that carried you.
We don’t fight alone.
If This Might Help Someone 🤍
If these songs encouraged you, even a little, consider sharing this post with someone who may be in the middle of a hard season right now.
You don’t have to know the right words or explain anything.
Sometimes sending a song, a story, or a reminder that the battle belongs to the Lord is enough to let someone know they’re not alone.
You never know which lyric, which truth, or which moment of worship God might use to strengthen someone else today.
May the Lord meet you in the listening, strengthen you with His truth, and remind you—again and again—that the battle belongs to Him.
